Profile
Juan Antonio Duro graduated in Economic and Business Sciences in 1992 and earned a PhD
in Economics (2003) from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB),
where was an instructor. In 2004, as he was looking for a dynamic young
university with a potential for growth, Joined the URV as an
assistant lecturer. In 2007 became a senior lecturer and since 2011 has been a full professor.
He has
been secretary of the Tourism and Leisure Faculty (Escola Universitària de
Turisme i Oci), head of the Department of Economics (2017-2022), Chair of Local and Regional Economy and currently, is Vice-Rector for Economics, Infrastructures and Institutional Relations at the URV.
He has
participated in several projects of knowledge transfer such as the impact of
tourism on the different regions in Catalunya or the impact of public policies
on regional development.
His
research interests focus on income distribution and its territorial and
environmental applications. Currently, he is undertaking a line of research
dealing with topics about Tourism Economics in Spain.
