Maria Llop is Full Professor of Economics at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). From 2003 to 2006 she was the secretary of the Department of Economics of URV. Since September 2010 to November 2013, she has been director of the Centre de Recerca en Economia Industrial i Economia Pública (CREIP) of URV. Currently she is the head of the Department of Economics (from July 2022).

She obtained his PhD in 2001 from URV and obtained the Extraordinary PhD dissertarion award. She pursued the undergraduate studies at the Universitat de Barcelona.

Her research interests include computable general equilibrium models and multisectorial models, with application to public economics, economic impact analysis and environmental economics. Her publications have appeared in Ecological Economics, Energy Policy, Environment and Planning A, Regional Studies, Annals of Regional Science, Journal of Industrial Ecology, Journal of Policy Modeling and Investigaciones Económicas, among others.
